The North and South Downs Escapade

From the start in Canterbury the route takes you South West from the city on a mixture of off-road trails and quiet back roads before reaching Charing and turning North West past Maidstone and towards Medway. Then it is West towards Surrey and CP1 at Box Hill before passing Guildford and getting close to Farnham on the North Downs Way. From here it’s South, passing Liphook and joining the South Downs Way just after Midhurst before riding across the beautiful South Downs heading towards Eastbourne. CP2 will be a self-administered camera selfie or a purchase receipt in Alfriston – our usual location, Mason Cycles will not be open over the Bank Holiday so we are going Audax-style for this one! A combination of tracks and quiet roads gets you back to Charing where the outbound and inbound routes cross and you rejoin the North Downs Way back into Canterbury and the finish.

JUNE 2022 – The event starts at 17:00hrs on Thursday 2nd June 2022 and the finish will close at 19:00hrs on Sunday 5th June 2022. This will be a repeat of the first running of the event and will remain on the calendar as the Autumn edition and last hoorah of the season.

The route is 480km with 8000m of climbing. The full GPX files of the route will be shared with all riders two weeks prior to the start.

SEPTEMBER 2022 – To be confirmed…. We are just waiting on a few things to work themselves out, events we want to ride ourselves, grown-up/proper work commitments and also whether or not we can introduce a new route to the portfolio in 2022 – we really hope that we can and if we do it will happen in September! If not it will be a repeat of the North and South Downs so watch this space and our social media channels for more news.

The cost of the event will be £65.00 per rider. This includes – A bloody great long-weekend of cycling, Map my Tracks Tracking, a GPX file of the route, an embroidered event patch and vinyl bike frame sticker, an enamel branded camping mug, a Brevet Card and a contribution to our beneficiary charities – Cycling UK, The National Parks Foundation and Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
